The Brisbane River was a rich source of inspiration for a space that was to be flexible and "all to all". The rhythm of the tidal waters, the layering of the river bed, and marine life, brought about images which were integrated throughout the design.

The purpose built restaurant occupying 555 m², is a focal point of the complex. The contemporary wharf structure has sweeping butterfly roof that shelters the bar, reception and banquet area on a the upper ’deck’ level and verandah dining facing the boardwalk and river on the lower level. When combined with timber bi-fold doors, shutters, corrugated iron louvres, the appeal of a Queensland Verandah has been created.

The restaurant features a vaulted corrugated iron ceiling with suspended plywood panel, providing warmth to the space. The richness of a bygone era has been achieved by the inclusion of recycled wharf timbers in floor finishes. Plywood contrast panels of bold colour provide warmth and vibrancy to the space.
