The Metro7 project is a mixed-use development located above a new subway station to be jointly constructed near the Shanghai 2010 Expo site. The 150,000m2 development includes a 29 level office tower, a 23 level serviced apartment tower and a 17 level hotel. A retail podium joins all the major tower buildings and extends to the underground levels. The Metro station is located under the office tower and is visually linked via an 8 level naturally-lit atrium space.
The 3 towers are curved glass structures the rise from a podium clad in textured stone. The 2 storey stone band features skewing feature lines which turn into steel and glass structures at key locations.
A major feature of the project is the atrium space. The bow-string truss and cable structure glazing will include a ventilated cavity glass skin to create a climate modifying zone.
The Metro Station entrances are expressed as projecting acute building corners with light vaults allowing dramatic light to filter down several floors.
