	images	When completed in 1977, AMP Place was the tallest building in Brisbane. The client, the AMP Society sought a site for a prestigious and sophisticated office building on which they could locate their Queensland headquarters. The client’s foresight in locating its headquarters on this site created a major impact on growth and positioning of Brisbane’s Central Business District. The tower comprises 31 levels of prime commercial office space clad in a reflective gold glazing. The unique floor plate design provides 360º views of Brisbane. In 1981, this project was awarded the Building Owners and Managers Association of Australia Award for the most outstanding development, on the four major categories of structure, building services, building utility and civic worth. In 1988, the AMP Society commissioned the firm to refurbish and extend the ground floor of AMP Place to increase the quality and positioning of the centre in the increasingly competitive commercial space stock of Brisbane CBD. A major element of the brief was to create the feeling of spaciousness. The design solution drew on the free form of the tower plan by enlarging the foyer with the fluid forms continued externally to the 2 level bank building, overpass steps and paving pattern.
