The project involved extensions to the On the southern side of the building at level 10 is a new flexible
seminar / meeting room facility with catering facilities and breakout spaces
including a cantilevered balcony overlooking the river. Also on the southern
side, at level 9 is a flexible space for
use as short-term specialised research projects and conferences. This two-level addition forms a clear
focal point to the campus from the southern (freeway and river) side of the
campus. The new
room-with-a-view has become the University and Business Faculty's
memorable function space. Design cues were taken from the existing building massing and
materials. A new façade
expression was added to create focus and a new visual identity. The abstract panels arrangement are
randomly sized and placed with subtle complementary colour variations, to
contrast with the discipline of the building. Slot windows puncture the façade
providing framed views. The floor
behind is cut back to join the two levels together. The wide cantilever
balcony appears to be suspended above the freeway below. Completion:2006 Client: Refer to original building page Photography
