By using the geometry of the Nautilus Shell, we are able to deliver a very simple floor plan that provides two different basic room modules. The hotel concept provides a very relaxed casual and functional design that suits short stay holiday guests as well as business guests. A water taxi service will connect the hotel with the central business district and main feature areas of “The World” development. The large atrium space, clear views and amazing geometry will be an unforgettable feature of the Nautilus Hotel, and these features are common to the public spaces as well as the suites. The fully functional conference rooms at ground level make the hotel an ideal venue for small conferences and corporate seminars. A business center is also included. The exciting South facing pool, bar, the restaurant and other guest facilities overlook the lake providing unforgettable dining and entertainment, night and day. The rooms are larger than normal to cater for holiday makers but also provide all the requirements for business guests. The rooms have king sized beds and can also be modified to cater for twin queen single beds or queen and single beds. Each room has private spa/ massage facilities, and is twice the size of a conventional hotel room. Passive solar design principles have been incorporated in the innovative architectural concept in order to achieve comfort levels above average, reduce energy consumption and operation costs. The atrium forms an integral part of the room climatisation and ventilation concept. The indoor climate is enhanced through thermal storage mass moderating temperature change and humidity, indoor landscaping and an integrated ecological green wall in the foyer. Concrete core activation and a mixed mode ventilation system with heat- / cold recovery as active technology components efficiently support the passive principles for the summer and the winter case.
