Powerlink Queensland controls, operates and maintains the State’s electricity transmissions grid. It provides the link between Queensland’s power generators and electricity distributors.
The company has relocated it’s administrative functions to a new facility on Brisbane’s northside within a recycled warehouse structure. The design concept involved stripping the building of its roof and wall cladding to expose the fine steel structure. The saw-tooth roof was then clad to create a series of sleek aerofoils.
Beneath these aerofoils and set back from the existing building line there is an elegant glass walled box housing the new offices. Within this building is a mid-level floor for office space with an internal atrium void 20m by 30m at the centre.
The atrium is extensively landscaped at ground level with tree-lined canopies visible from the upper level office space. The atrium space is naturally lit during daylight via extensive glazing along the south east facing sawtooth roof. There is no physical separation between the office environment and the landscape.
Externally, the surrounding grounds are landscaped to provide a park-like setting.
