Using a palette of warm materials integrated throughout the space, Peddle Thorp has created an environment that provides a surprisingly open yet comforting contemporary workplace.

For the 5 financial departments of Queensland Health, the opportunity arose to centralise and co-locate to a new CBD location in Cairns. The availability of vacant space over two 870 sq. m levels provided the ideal opportunity to consolidate their activities.

Creating a visual flow between spaces was key, floor to ceiling glazing creating a visual line of connection between the departments, and served to open up a space that might otherwise feel enclosed. Senior staff workspaces were integrated within the whole allowing staff members to move through the building, emphasising the feeling of openness.

The end result has provided much praise from the Client and are all delighted with their new space. Coordinating five different departments, and with a design and document period of 8 weeks, Peddle thorp have delivered an exceptional fit-out for the end users
