Peddle Thorp Far North were commissioned as Principal Consultants by the Department of Education, (DoE) for the expansion of this existing special needs School in the Townsville suburb of Mundingburra.
On a site already congested with other buildings, siting options were extremely limited. Careful planning around the retention of a 50-year-old raintree on the sites edge allowed this 2 storey building to knit into the existing School fabric. Key elements in the design include Life Skills, a Therapeutic Room and 6x GLA’s, connecting to the outside with shaded external learning and play spaces.
