GLADSTONE ART GALLERY

FAST FACTS
THE DETAILS
The scope of the project sought not to alter the external appearance or function of this former town hall building. The new gallery wing provides a contemporary contrast to the original structure.
Level changes across the site provide an opportunity to elevate the new gallery. Supporting functions are located below and are recessed, visually reducing the mass of the new wing. A dedicated administration area and multi-function studio space can open into a terrace and courtyard for larger functions.
The façade of the new wing incorporates work by a local artist Margaret Worthington depicting Gladstone.
