National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June) calls on all Australians to actively contribute to reconciliation in tangible ways. The theme, "Be a Voice for Generations," emphasises the need to promote reconciliation in our daily lives, from where we live to where we work and socialise. It encourages learning about shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and taking actions that foster understanding and respect. Peddle Thorp is committed to fostering respectful relationships and inclusivity. We strive to be a catalyst for positive change, actively contributing to reconciliation and creating spaces that celebrate and honour the diverse histories and cultures of Australia's First Nations people.
A few of us attended the ‘Art & This Place Tour” at the Queensland Art Gallery on Sunday where we gained insight into some important pieces of Indigenous art. We also learnt about the relationship of our Indigenous peoples to Country plus cultural traditions and the meaning of some famous Indigenous names in our city. A cultural experience indeed!
